The HK$680 million contract, awarded by the Transport Department (“TD”) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, is a superb opportunity for Flowbird to collaborate with HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider. The program involves the deployment of about 12,000 new parking meters across Hong Kong with a high focus on digital payment, information and dissemination of real-time parking vacancy information. The new parking meters are installed by phases starting from mid-January 2021 and the installation works will be fully completed by first half of 2022.
Users have multiple choices to pay for their parking, on the meter with Octopus, contactless credit cards i.e. Visa payWave, MasterCard Contactless and UnionPay QuickPass, Faster Payment System, AlipayHK, WeChat Pay and Union QR. For even more convenience, drivers can pay for their parking fees and extend parking time remotely using the mobile parking solution app, namely “HKeMeter”, with top up options.
For hassle free parking, motorists are informed real-time about vacant parking bay, reducing both the time to park their car and more globally the congestion. This information is disseminated on the HKeMeter, the mobile App powered by Flowbird, and the website of DATA.GOV.HK.
All elements of this new implemented system have been integrated in the Flowbird advanced platform that is the neuralgic centre supporting the TD for city parking analysis management and planning. Besides this smart technology window, it is an honour to work with a prestigious partner like HKT.
