Hear about Edinburgh’s leading role in ticketing innovation at the ALBUM conference

Is change in the UK bus industry happening at the pace it’s needed? Are those changes taking us in the right direction? What are the roadblocks to progress?

The ALBUM conference, which takes place in Edinburgh on Tuesday 25 to Wednesday 26 April 2023, is themed ‘The changing face of our industry’. Its agenda will explore four pillars – policy, customers, products and colleagues – considering present and future challenges for municipal and independent bus operators, and how these can be overcome.

As a longstanding technology partner of conference host, Lothian Buses, Flowbird is proud to be attending as an exhibitor and speaker. It’s especially exciting that we’ll be in Lothian’s home city, and Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh. In the city centre and surrounding areas, Lothian’s 700 buses across 70 services perform the vital role of keeping people moving.

Lothian is the UK’s largest municipal bus company, with over 2,500 employees, proudly owned by the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian Council. It’s a great privilege to help the operator to continually achieve the best in passenger experience – with our technology behind its account based ticketing and open payment system.

To reflect the ALBUM conference theme, Paul Rogers, UK Sales & Marketing Director at Flowbird’s transport division, will be speaking about the introduction of the contactless and capped open payment system, which was the first of its kind in Scotland. He will discuss the factors behind its unprecedented, rapid adoption, and will preview the next stage of ticketing evolution in the city.

We’re looking forward to heading to Edinburgh later this month to share this story and to meet our industry colleagues. Come and say hello to our team!
